Happy Returns of the Day!

Yum!
 Happy Birthday to me :D

Last September 17, I celebrated my 38th year of my existence in this crazy world. My daughter Jen bought Chocolate cake for me :) I can't wait to turn forty in the next two years (God willing) because it has been said that "Life begins at 40", lol!

Since it is Football season already, hubby bought me an NFL Jersey to wear at work during football game nights. Washington Redskins is his favorite team. He chose Jason Campbell's number because it represents my birth date, so cool!

Hubby's gift :)

As a gift for myself, I got a new pair of Guess eyeglasses :D I really needed them because my prescriptions have been changed lately.

I only have one birthday wish: good health for my entire family especially for mom and hubby.  "Health is Wealth", you know :) Actually, I had two birthday wishes but the other one have been granted already. Thank you Lord GOD for answering my prayer.  I am so overjoyed  for making it happen. Now I can feed my soul every Sunday.

The Power of Prayer

To all birthday celebrators this month especially to my son Jerry (Sept. 6), my sister Ivy (Sept. 30), my nephew Rio David (Sept. 19), my nieces Rio Jane and Emiko (Sept. 12 and Sept. 19) and to my Auntie Nic2x (Sept. 12),  many Happy Returns of the Day to all of us!

Cheers!

Lady Gaga: Truly Gaga :D

I am not a fan of this self-promoter singer but I can't help but comment on her meaty dress that she wore during the 2010 Video Music Awards last Sunday night. It was kind of shocking to me! At first I thought it was not a real meat but when I look at the photos closely, it looked to me that it's a real beef (minus flies :D) And she confirmed it in one of her interviews. Lady Gaga is such a "gaga" :D

What a meat!

OMG!
Now I am wondering if those beef  are salted and peppered, lol! Speaking of salt and pepper, while looking more closely at the photos, I am thinking of what I can do with those  beef. Maybe...

* I can make a Pinoy Bistek out of her hair piece.
* I can  make Beef Sinigang out of her shoes (hope there's no bad smell).
* I can make tons (yes, tons) of Beef Jerky out of her dress.

And afterwards, I will serve the foods to her, lol!

Seriously, I find Lady Gaga "weird". And I find her dress "gross".

Whatjayathink?

Labor Day Motorcade/Parade 2010

In the Philippines, when we say Labor Day, first thing that would come up in our mind is the labor force of different companies having protests or demonstrations for wage increase or oil price rollback, etc.

It's different in the United States especially in Winnemucca. They have carnivals and they hold many different activities such as craft fair (Congratulations to my friends Nathalie and Yony for bagging the Fair Favorite and Best of Show awards respectively, they were one of the exhibitors [Cross stitch]) , rodeo, motorcade/parade around town, etc. This year, I have witnessed or shall I say, I have joined the parade which was participated-in with different organizations, both public and private.

I enjoyed taking pics before the parade started. I only have some. I didn't go that far.

Check these photos out :

Winnemucca is one of the cowboy "countries" that's why too many cowboys joined. Also, there is an election coming up in November that's why politician joined too. Some participants including us threw some candies to the spectators. Children had so much fun catching them or picking them up.

It was really fun and it was a new experience for me.

Thank you for taking time to view the photos.

Cheers!

For a Good Cause :D

Labor Day Motorcade/Parade. I was not just an spectator of the event, I was a participant. Hubby, our grandkids Misty and Erica, our daughter Jen and our Filipina friends Emy and Yony were there too. I almost forgot, hubby's very good friend, Randy and his daughter Jaka also participated. We did it  for a good cause. And also, we did it to support  hubby's good friends Tom and Marlene.

It was my first time to join such event here in the United States and it was fun :D The parade was composed of various groups. I joined with a political group that opposes garbage thingy.  A company in California is proposing a landfill in Winnemucca and we are trying to stop it.

Gorgeous! Aren't we?

Pinays on the go!

Vote Yes for No to Garbage Dump!
A co-worker who saw me pushing garbage cans (with wheels) told me that she can't believed that I did it. I said, "because no Americans wanted to do it,  lol!" It was true, there were only three of us who volunteered to do it and the three of us are all Filipinos. Jen, Misty and Erica were water girls :D They gave away bottled water to the spectators. Good girls!

My heartfelt thanks to Emy and Yony for being there (I invited them :D) It was very tiring but it was fun. The fun part was that, their respective husbands did not know about what they were  doing that day, hehe!

Thank you Emy and Yony, you two are awesome!

It's Grandparents Day Today

I really didn't know that there is such a day as "Grandparents Day" until I've read it somewhere on the net. I asked hubby about it and he said he didn't know either. Ngeeh!! I learned that the Grandparents Day has always been celebrated every first Sunday after the Labor Day. Sounds interesting, huh?

Too sad that my grandparents on both sides are all gone :( I have never seen my grandmother on my father's side because she died when I was not yet born. But my Aunts said she was a very patient person and a loving mother to them. I only got to see my grandfather but my siblings and I were too scared of him because he was too strict.

My grandmother on my mother's side died 18 or 19 years ago and it was one of the saddest day of my life because I grew up under her care. My grandfather on the other hand, passed away only last year. I had a blog about his death. I was really devastated that time. I was not able to view him for the last time though I have seen him on his 95th birthday the other year during my visit to the Philippines. I am glad I have good memories in my heart that makes me feel better every time I think about him.

To all grandparents out there especially to hubby and to my mother, Happy Grandparents Day!

Jason Statham

Thanks to contactmusic.com for the photo

He's the man!
I am an avid fan of this English Actor and Martial Artist, Jason Statham and I would like to dedicate this post to my co-blogger "Michie" who is also an avid fan like me.

Jason Statham was born on September 12, 1972, in Sydenham, South London. Wow, we were born on the same month and year! Yet he was born five days before my mom brought me into this hostile but beautiful world of ours. His name is "Jay" which reminds me when my son Jerry was still a newborn baby, I wanted to give him name "Kenneth Jay" but it was never pushed through :(

Anyway, Jason's passion is diving and he was a member of Britain's National Diving Squad where he was spotted by an agent. He was a model of the clothing brand Tommy Hilfiger before he became an actor. The first movie of him that I watched was the"Transporter 1". Since then, I have been looking for his other films and have watched the Transporter 2 and 3 and the rest. His latest film is "The Expendables" with Sylvester Stallone and Jet Lit which I've already watched, of course :D

I have read somewhere that he normally performs his own fight scenes and stunts, cool!

He is unmarried but was in a relationship with model Kelly Brook for seven years. They broke up in 2004. Since April 2010, he has been dating 23 year-old Victoria's Secret model, Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Hmmm.

His Filmography:

The Brazilian Job (Handsome Rob)
Crank 2:  High Voltage (Chev Chelios)
Transporter 3 (Frank Martin)
Truth in 24 (Narrator)
Death Race (Jensen Ames)
The Bank Job (Terry Leather)
War (Crawford)
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (Farmer)
Crank (Chev Chelios)
The Pink Panther (Yves Gluant)
Chaos (Det. Quentin Conners)
Revolver (Jake)
London (Bateman)
Transporter 2 (Frank Martin)
Cellular (Ethan)
Collateral (Airport Man)
Call of Duty (Sgt. Waters)
The Italian Job (Handsome Rob)
Jet Li Is 'The One' (MVA Agent Evan Funsch)
Red Faction II (Shrike)
The Transporter (Frank Martin)
Mean Machine (Monk)
The One MVA (Agent Evan Funsch)
Ghosts of Mars (Sgt. Jericho Butler)
Turn It Up (Mr. B)
Snatch (Turkish)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (Bacon)

So there you go "Michie", I hope you had fun reading this post.

To Mr. Jason Statham: keep it coming man!

Star Magic Ball 2010: The Hunks

After posting my 12 picks of stunning and gorgeous ladies of the ball, this time let's take a look at the hunky men in their most appealing attire.

Credit to Style Bible.Ph for these photos:

Zanjoe Marudo
Derek Ramsey
Gerald Anderson
Enchong Dee
Sam Milby
Jon Avila
Jake Cuenca
Piolo Pascual aka Papa "P"
Among these hunks, my all-time favorite is Papa "P" :D  There was one time I watched "Noah" on TFC, hubby said "Mahal, he is the most handsome Filipino actor I have ever seen on  Filipino T.V. " I laughed when I heard that from him because he always tells me that Filipino actors are so vain that make them look like a gay on T.V. For him, Papa "P" is an exception, lol! I did not mention to him  that this hunk has been rumored as a closet man, hehe!

Giant Gold Fish: Real or Photoshopped?

I was surfing the web minutes ago when I stumbled upon this photo in one of the  sites. My first reaction was:

Holy Carp!

When I took a second look, it seemed to me that it is not real. I bet the fish is very heavy but how come the person who is carrying it looks like it's just pretty light? I am sure it is alive, why there is no sign of struggling?

On the other hand, if it is real, this person must be very lucky to catch such an incredible creature!

According to the article, after this photo was taken, the giant fish was freed back to the water. Hmm, sounds intriguing to me!

How about you? What can you say? Do you believe that it is real? Or do you think it is photoshopped?

It's for you to judge.
