My Poor Son :(

I panicked when my cousin Carol informed me via facebook that my precious son was rushed to the hospital (Dec. 9, 2011 at 7:00pm)  because of high fever. I wanted to call my husband at work but I didn't want to worry him so I decided to wait for him until he gets home.

Being away from my children, my number one fear is to receive bad news like this. Sigh. Hubby was speechless for a second when I told him about what happened to our son. He was very worried.

When I talked to my son over the phone, he sound tired but he said he's okay. He said his platelet count was in normal range but he was dehydrated so the doctor advised him to drink plenty of water which he obeyed. Based on the result of his urine test and blood test, my son is suffering from viral infection which would lead to Dengue fever. My mind went morbid. I remembered my nephew's death caused by Dengue. I remembered my daughter who have fought Dengue two years ago. And I remembered the news on TFC about thousands of people died of Dengue in the Philippines. Oh, my Lord God.

I am wondering where did my son got bit by a mosquito. I thought maybe from mosquitoes found in the drainage canal by the gate of the apartment. My daughter explained it to me that the Department of Health or DOH says that there are three sources of mosquitoes that cause Dengue: Moquitoes from septic tanks, fresh water, and from drainage canals, so we couldn't tell where did her brother got bit.

Right now, my son is still in the hospital. Last night, his platelet count went down a little bit but nothing to worry because it is still in the normal range. So he's been closely monitored by the nurses and his doctor. The doctor, Dr. Cecilia C. Fuentes,  is going to decide today if my son can check out anytime soon. Hopefully. By God's grace.

Please help us God. Thank you.

Happy Love Day!

Amen!

So what did you get from your hubby, boyfriend, or your loved ones today?

I didn't get one today. But I got a heart-shaped box of chocolate on the first day of this month from hubby. I got it in advance, geez. Both my daughter and my son got one too. Hubby is such a sweet person.

Oh I almost forgot, hubby sent me a JibJab Valentine video link on my email yesterday. It was too funny that I laughed my a** off when I opened it. I tried posting the link here but it did not work when I clicked it, sigh.

I only have Valentines card for hubby but I'd stay awake for him to give him my sweetest kiss and my warmest hug when he gets home tonight. Hey, if you get nothing today, remember, it doesn't mean that your loved ones care you less.

To sum it up, a box of chocolate and a 2- minute laugh made my day.

Love, love, love!

Have a good one!

Black Bear Diner: My Second Fave Dining Place

My second best dining place

Of course the number one restaurant for me is Olive Garden ;)

But no kidding, Black Bear Diner is the number two. I have been there  twice (Fernley Branch, Fernley, Nevada). My daughter recommended it because she had breakfast there with her Kuya Chad months ago while on the way to Winnemucca from Reno and she liked it there. My daughter is kinda picky so I thought the place must be really nice and the food must be very good.

I find its dining Menu unique because it looks like a newspaper at first glance.

We didn't wait for our food like forever. It was quick!

I had Chicken Fried Steak on our first time. It was very good!

I had Prime Rib on our second time. Yum!

The staff are nice and polite.

Everything is good at this place.

My daughter was right. The place is recommendable. I liked it. Hubby and my son liked it too.

We might try Black Bear Diner Reno branch pretty soon.

I can't wait!

Strolling Along the Lakeshore, South Lake Tahoe

We are now staying at  the Best Western Timber Cove  comfortably while waiting for the car to be fixed. Best Western is located near the shore of Lake Tahoe. Since we don't have a car, my teeners and I just contented taking a walk while enjoying the amazing view of  the pine trees, lake shore and the lake itself.

Sharing some photos we took while strolling:

Lake Tahoe is such an amazing place!

I hope you enjoy viewing at the photos.

Thanks for dropping-by.

Car Trouble in South Lake Tahoe

We were about to leave Hansen Resort a day earlier when hubby found out that the engine is leaking and gas is all over the ground when he started the car to warm it up while we were still inside the cabin preparing to leave. Sigh.

A cop who happened to be in the vicinity  pulling-over a driver called a towing service for hubby to tow the car going to an auto shop. The name of the towing company is Welcome's Towing. We were charged $100.00 for the towing. The owner of the resort recommended Christensen Automative so the car was sent there. The mechanic estimated a $200.00 charges and said it would take 3.5 hours to fix it. We roamed around town while waiting. We walked from the resort going to the Red Hut for breakfast which was recommended by Mr. Guillian, the resort owner.

This has been my teener's second time in Lake Tahoe and it's been my third time but we wanted to see more of this beautiful place so we grabbed the chance. Lake Tahoe is one of the beautiful places in the world.

Check these photos we took:

This part of the street belongs to Nevada State, next to the traffic light belongs to California

After two hours, the mechanic called for a bad news which caused us a BIG  SHOCK. He said that the car can't be fixed until Friday because he has to order the defective parts and that it would cost us more or less $800.00. Holy cow! No kidding! I felt like we were being robbed that very moment. Sigh!

We returned to Hansen Resort via Yellow cab and decided to stay for the night. Hubby called his boss that he can't work on Friday, called Hotels.com to reserve a different hotel for two more  nights and called Domino's Pizza for delivery (per advertisement from the phone book but  it's not actually Domino's when the pizza was delivered, so beware!)

As I am writing this post,  hubby, my teeners and I are enjoying our stay at Best Western Timber Cove, still in South Lake Tahoe, California.
